Satellite internet jargon
When people are looking at buying into the satellite Internet explosion, they'll read words like "signal latency" or "rain fade". Then there's "two-way" satellite as opposed to "one-way" satellite.
Now this can get pretty confusing when all you're looking for is a way to have Internet access in a rural area. Signal latency is basically the delay between requesting data and the receipt of a response. That's a lot easier to understand now isn't it?
When they mention rain fade, in layman's terms, they're just saying that satellite communications are affected by moisture in many forms of precipitation. Depending on the frequency and bands will determine how much rain fade you experience, but they utilize the best band that will avoid this in your particular area. Hopefully this clears a few things up for you.
