Helius Honored for Distance Learning Initiatives
HughesNet's sister company, Utah-based Helius, has been recognized by the federal government for its distance learning initiatives. Helius received the Federal Government Distance Learning Association's (FGDLA) Innovation Award for designing ground-breaking technologies that benefit the U.S. government. In addition, the LEIM (Law Enforcement Information Management) division of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) has honored Helius for supporting its efforts.
"We are honored to have been acknowledged by these two leading organizations," said Mike Tippets, President of Helius. "Integrated distance learning and communications solutions are fundamentally important to federal, state, and local government agencies and we are privileged to support their work in serving their constituents."
For supporting the GATES (Government Alliance for Training & Education by Satellite) Summit, Helius received this award at an annual awards ceremony held by the FGDLA. Distance learning is an area of education that specializes in teaching 'off-site.' Helius' recent developments have fostered understanding and knowledge among various sectors of the federal government.
